"STALAG 17" FILM POSTERS
Good pair of original posters for the 1953 World War II drama "Stalag 17", both produced to advertise the film to European audiences, includes: "Stalag 17" broadside poster, 39 1/4" x 55", in Italian, featuring a view of a scene in the film in which William Holden's character Sefton relaxes in the female Russian prisoners' barracks, while below one prisoner strangles another with a scarf. The title of the film appears at bottom, with the main cast below. The poster was printed in Rome in October of 1953 by Vecchioni & Guadagno. It bears its original folds, with some very minor splitting at the extreme edges, else very good. WITH: "Stalag 17" broadside poster, 14" x 21 3/4", in French, featuring a painted depiction of the Sefton character and two other prisoner's behind barbed wire, with the camp commandant von Scherbach, played by Otto Preminger, standing over a dead escapee at bottom. The film's title appears at center left, with the main cast at bottom right. The poster was printed in Brussels by L. & H. Verstegen. Folds, with some adhesive residue at the top edge where it appears the poster was removed from a mounting, else very good. Two pieces.
