Good lot of seven early patents, proposals, and sets of schematics related to early aviation, from the archives of the Aero Club of America, the first national organization in the United States to license pilots. Includes: patent sheet, 10pp. 4to., for a twin-engine biplane designed by Greenhow Johnston, patented June 3, 1913; patent sheet, 4pp. 4to., for a helicopter propeller assembly utilizing four propellers, designed by Walter M. Ellis; schematic document, 5pp. 4to., for a Model 6X 100 horsepower aircraft engine, with photographs and cyanotypes schematics of the engine and its power output; proposal document, 10pp. 4to., from the Skywriting Corporation of America, inexplicably printed on blueprint paper, explaining the corporation's origins, methods, and some of the advertising work they have done for such entities as Lucky Strike cigarettes; proposal document, 17pp. 8vo., for a highly stable aircraft designed by Christopher Lake; a report, 4pp. 4to., from the Lawrence Sperry Aircraft Company, describing the development of a parachute for a contest hosted by the Aerial Club of America; and an advertising letter and statement from Aeronautical Retarding Gear, Inc., 3pp. 4to., describing their revolutionary aircraft braking system. An interesting look at early aviation innovation, with excellent visual appeal. Sold with a group of Aero Club letters and documents, unchecked by us. Should be seen.
