CHINESE POSTER - KIM IL-SUNG
KIM IL-SUNG (1912 - 1994) Supreme leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. Coming to power after the overthrow of Japanese rule, he authorized the invasion of South Korea in 1950, triggering the Korean War. Very rare Chinese poster, 29" x 20 1/2", People's Daily Newspaper, ca. early 1950s, pictures the North Korean ruler ca. early 1950s and captioned: "North Korea Militiry Commission Chairman and Supreme Commander of the North Korean People's Army - - General Kim Il Sung". Likely issued late in the Korean War when China intervened. Tack holes in corners, upper-left corner restored, else very good. From a single collection obtained entirely in China pre-2000.
