Description
COLUMBIAN EXPOSITION AWARD CERTIFICATE
Very large, attractive monochrome engraving, 23" x 29", a certificate awarding a medal (not present) to the firm of Elias Goebel & Sohn of Germany for the merit of their displays during the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago. The firm was awarded the medal for the quality of their clay crucibles, apparently used in glass making. The certificate is lavishly illustrated with images of the exhibition's Court of Honor, famous as the "White City", as well as depictions of Columbus, whom the exposition honored, Liberty, the "Races of the World", and other mythological figures. The certificate is framed, and is evenly toned overall, else very good.
