A Japanese Lacquered Wood Kodansu , the rectilinear piece comprising one long, four medium and one short drawer with a hinged door revealing three further drawers within, the whole lacquered with birds of prey amid creeper-clad pines above a stream, in tones of gold, red and silver takamakie and hiramakie with kirigane and e-nashiji details, handles, corner supports and hinges in silver or shibuichi, 30.3cms by 20.1cms by 17.6cms, Late Edo-Meiji Period Provenance: Collection of Lieutenant Colonel Kenneth Dingwall DSO (1869-1946). Thence by descent to the present owner.
