Description
HOUDINI HARRY: (1874-1926) Hungarian-American Magician & Escapologist. A good vintage signed postcard photograph of Houdini in a half length pose wearing a pinstripe suit jacket and bow tie. Signed ('Harry Houdini') in dark fountain pen ink to a clear area of the image, adding the sentiment 'Best wishes' and date, 24th April 1913, in his hand. About EX
The present photograph was signed during Houdini's European tour of 1913, a significant year in both his personal and professional life. The magician's mother, Cecilia Weisz, to whom he was greatly devoted, died in 1913 whilst he was in Sweden. In the same year Houdini also introduced the elaborate Chinese Water Torture Cell escape to his repertoire, perhaps his most famous act.
