Description
Native American, Southwest, New Mexico, Santa Clara Pueblo, ca. 1st half 20th century CE. A stunning and early example of Santa Clara blackware, hand built and traditionally fired with a rich lustrous stone polished finish, and featuring four bear paw glyphs on the elegant shoulder. Interestingly, the bear claw glyph was the signature of important potter Margaret Tafoya's style. Size: 8.5" in diameter x 9.875" H (21.6 cm x 25.1 cm)

Surface pressure fissures on lower end with some crazing to the glaze and just a few, nearly invisible nicks/pigment losses and scratches here and there. Overall excellent.
