Description
North of the Black Sea, Ostrogothic or Frankish, ca. 6th century CE. A decorative silver fibula, its form comprised of an arched 'bow' detailed with three knobbed bands flanked by matching semi-circular heads that are also adorned with that knobby motif. The pin still remains and even shows some movement. Fibula were used to fasten the ancients' cloaks and also provided an extra touch of style. Weight 20.5 grams. Size: 1.875" L x .875" W (4.8 cm x 2.2 cm)
