Description
**First Time At Auction**
Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A silvered bronze fibula (brooch) in the form of a profile rendering of a horse with rider, the horse trotting forward with one leg raised as if on parade. The fibula, used to fasten clothing, was sometimes decorated with a symbol of something important to the owner; perhaps this one, its silvered surface suggesting an owner with elite status, belonged to a person who participated in military parades or owned a racing horse. Comes with custom stand. Size: 1.05" L x 0.9" H (2.7 cm x 2.3 cm); height on stand: 1.4" (3.6 cm)
