Ancient Greece, Ionia, ca. 6th to 5th century CE. An attractive kylix (drinking cup) of a wide, finely thrown form on a concave flared foot with twin slightly raised loop handles, decorated in a characteristic bi-chrome finish that takes advantage of the rich contrasting play between the rich black glaze and buff red ground. A lovely example impressive for its elegant silhouette, remarkable condition, and areas of iridescence. Size: 7.125" W handlespan x 2.625" H (18.1 cm x 6.7 cm)
