Description
Magna Graecia, early Daunia, ca. 6th to 5th century BCE. A lovely pottery thymiaterion or incense burner boasting an elegant chalice-like form and a stunning hand-painted brown-on-white decorative program. While the pottery make-up is very much of the Daunian persuasion, the abstract motifs show strong influence from the Geometric Period, save the leaf vine uppermost register. A beautiful example, replete with a mesmerizing painted decorative program. Size: 3.375" in diameter x 4.25" H (8.6 cm x 10.8 cm)
