Description
BIOGRAPHY: Lisa Aronzon received her MFA in Glass from the California College of Arts and Crafts in 1992, and a BFA in Painting from California State University at Northridge in 1980. She is an exhibiting member of the American Craft Council and Carolina Designer Craftsmen. Born in Los Angeles CA and later moved to Sonoma CA, where she taught herself the techniques of glass fusing and slumping. In 1987 she continued her education formally at the CCAC, Oakland CA where she received an MFA. Aronzon then joined a cooperative glass studio for four years and in 1988 built her own glass blowing studio in Oakland, California. In 2006 she moved to the Shenandoah Valley, Virginia, and rebuilt her studio on her property. In 2012 Lisa responded to Presidents Obama’s request to help our Veterans return home from the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. She was inspired to create an event that would allow Veterans to experience glass blowing in their hometowns by organizing glass studios and workshops throughout our nation. Veterans and active service members, attended free Glassblowing Workshops at participating schools, www.veteransglassblowingday.org. Living in the Shenandoah Valley, Aronzon not only blows glass but paints and draws; she travels extensively participating in Fine Art Festivals around the country.
