Description
Central Asia, modern day Afghanistan, Bactrian, ca. late 1st millennium BCE. A heavy stone bowl made of unpolished volcanic rock, used for offerings. The edges of the bowl have a narrow scalloped pattern, with a flat rim, and the bowl stands on a round foot. The weight of this bowl suggests that it was not designed to be moved, but rather kept in a temple or buried with its owner. Size: 7.5" W x 2.5" H (19 cm x 6.4 cm)
