Roman Empire, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. This is a bronze cast of the youthful Roman god Mercury; he is standing nude, holding a caduceus (his traditional symbol) and wearing a laurel wreath. This small bronze may be a replica of a larger statue that the owner was a fan of, or a small amulet to be carried for protection. Size: 4.125" H (10.5 cm)
