Description
Ancient Greece, ca. 5th to 4th century BCE. A storage container known as a pithos, cast in bronze, with a piriform shaped body, a tubular neck with everted bands adorning the mid-section, flaring to a wide mouth with a vertical sided rim. Note, it is rather unusual to find a bronze pithos as most were made of pottery. Size: 4.875" in diameter x 8.875" H (12.4 cm x 22.5 cm)
