Ancient Greece, ca. 5th to 4th century CE. A stupendous pair of bronze appliques - a Greek form of phalera (disks worn on the breastplate) or possibly shield appliques - both showing distinct "nipples" with small loop rings on the verso for attachment. Both have aged quite gracefully and boast gorgeous green patina. Custom stand. Size: larger measures 5.375" in diameter (13.7 cm); 10.375" W x 7.625" H (26.4 cm x 19.4 cm) on stand
