Notes/Literature: Amantine-Lucile-Aurore Dupin worked under the pseudonym George Sand, and is best known as a French novelist and memoirist. This is a rare example of her painting. The translated inscription reads "I certify that the watercolor here is an authentic work of my gran'mere, George Sand / Aurore Sand".
