White tara is the female deity of the Buddhist Pantheon. White tara was believe to be born from tear of the Boddhisatwa of compassion, Avalokiteshwara. Tara is believed to protect the human begings while they are crossing the ocean of existence. The practice of White Tara is basically performed in to prolong life as well as for healing purpose. This thangka is painted in gold. A thangka is a Tibetan Buddhist painting on the medium of cotton, or silk appliqué, usually depicting a Buddhist deity, scene, or mandala.
