Lot of (10) "The New York Herald" Civil War Era 1862-1865 Original Newspaper Articles - This lot includes (10) New York Herald newspaper articles from the Civil War era. The newspapers are dated from October, 1862 to May, 1865. Some headlines from the papers include: "The Union Loss Two Thousand", "Rebel Accounts of the Great Victory in the Valley", "Gen. Sherman Driving Hood Into Alabama", "The Rebel General Dearing Reported Killed", "General Custer's Address to His Cavalry", "The Re-Election of Mr. Lincoln", and many other interesting stories. There is also an issue dated Friday, May 19, 1865 with a cover story about the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln, with the text of testimonies from the trial. The newspapers have been very well preserved, and are in excellent condition for being over 150 years old. This is truly a wonderful chance to own a unique piece of the history of the United States of America.
