Two Nice 1928 “ORVILLE WRIGHT” Signed Documents
ORVILLE WRIGHT (1871-1948). Credited with inventing and building the world's first successful airplane and making the first controlled, powered and sustained heavier-than-air human flight, on December 17, 1903.
Group of Three Documents, TWO (2) Signed, “Orville Wright” regarding a $25,000 Contest Prize for a Dallas to Hong Kong Flight, Choice Very Fine. This trio of items includes:

1. October 30, 1928-Dated, Typed Letter Beautifully Signed, “Orville Wright,” 1 page, 7.25” x 10.5”. Dayton, Ohio. To Mr. C.F. Schory, Choice Very Fine. It reads, in full: “I am enclosing herewith the release form from the Dallas Trust and Savings Bank for the Easterwood prize. I see your signature is required.”

2. October 29, 1928-Dated, Typed Carbon Document Beautifully Signed, “Orville Wright” in ink as Chairman of Contest Committee, National Aeronautic Association of U.S.A., 1 page, 8.5” x 14”. [Dayton], Montgomery County, Ohio. Also signed “C.F. Schory” as Secretary and “H.S. Miller” as Notary Public. Very Fine condition. This Document reads, in part: “W.E. Easterwood, Jr... trusted with the Dallas Trust and Savings Bank a prize in the sum of $25,000.00 to be given to the first aviator making a successful flight from Dallas, Texas, to Hong Kong, China, or vice versa, by airplane within a period of three hundred hours without making more than three stops in said flight, said flight to be made at any time between the first day of August, 1927 and midnight of September 15, 1928, Dallas time… [Easterwood] would not withdraw said $25,000.00… except upon the written authorization of the National Aeronautic Association… there has been no successful contestant… [NAA] does hereby authorize… said Dallas Trust and Savings Bank to return said $25,000.00 to said W.E. Easterwood, Jr…”

3. Plus... A Printed Document, No Signatures/Not Signed, 4 pages, 8.5’ x 14”, both sides of two sheets conjoined at top. Headed “The William E. Easterwood, Jr. / $25,000 Flight Prize / Dallas, Texas, to Hongkong, China, Flight / Trans-Pacific,” 1927-1928. With a similar 1930 offer for a Rome to New York to Dallas flight. (3 items)
