"THE SUPREMES" PERFORMANCE CONTRACT FOR THE COPACABANA
Nice group of four documents, includes and AGVA Standard Form engagement contract in which The Supremes are hired by the famous Copacabana club in New York on June 3, 1966. They agree to perform for 14 consecutive days, two to three shows a day, for the sum of $5,000/week. Signed by their representative at bottom, also signed by club manager JULES PODELL (d. 1973), who obtained his job through mob boss Frank Costello. A rider is also included in which The Supremes stipulate they are to receive sole, top star billing and will be provided with a 12 piece orchestra. Also included is a handwritten list of musicians required, plus a terrific vintage 4pp. 7" x 10 3/4" brochure promoting their performance and the Copa. But for staple holes at the top of the documents, in overall fine condition.
