Description
J. EDGAR HOOVER REPORTS THE CAPTURE OF "DUTCH" SCHULTZ. Dutch Schultz (born Arthur Flegenheimer, 1901 - 1935) was a New York City-area German Jewish-American mobster, made his fortune in bootlegging and the numbers racket. Weakened by two tax evasion trials and by fellow mobster Lucky Luciano. Ordered murdered when he sought to kill prosecutor Thomas E. Dewey. Scarce printed flyer on heavy stock, 2pp. 8" x 8", Division of Investigation, Washington, Dec. 4, 1934 in which "John Edgar Hoover" rescinds a wanted notice, stating that Schultz, identified with all of his aliases, had been: "...taken into custody at Albany, New York, on November 28, 1934...". Very good. Schultz, charged by Dewey with tax evasion, would walk a few months later.
