Matted underglass in a 9" X 11" vintage marbled frame. * frame has some paint losses, mainly on the corners. Print image size of 3 1/2" X 5". Information on the illustrator & book attached to reverse. The book was written asa diary set in 1901 - 1905 of a young missionary kindergarten teacher in Hiroshima, Japan before the Russo-Japanese War. The book also served as an introduction for Americans to Japanese life, little known inthe early 20th century. It was a best selling novel the year it was first published.
