Description
Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, Sican/ Lambayeque, ca. 800 to 1100 CE. A blackware stirrup vessel on a corsetted round foot, with an angular corsetted body, a slightly tapered spout, and a strap handle, the body with a pair of prone humans looking upward at the the elaborately decorated Nylamp (God of the Underworld), the handle with another pair of humans. Nylamp forms the base of the spout and is shown with extensive ear ornaments, pectoral and headdress, and characteristic almond-shaped eyes with "tear" tattoos. Size: 6.5" W x 6.5" H (16.5 cm x 16.5 cm)

Condition
Spout reattached and small nick to rim. Losses to base, tip of Nylamp's ear ornament, and headdresses of three prone figures. Expected surface wear commensurate with age. Nice root marks.
