A French painted wood and brass mounted singing bird musical box by E. Flajoulot, the movement stamped FLAJOULOT PARIS and No. 1212 , early 20th century, of concave rectangular shape, the brass movement with blued screws, braked governor, two bellows operated by a side pull lever releasing an oval cover painted with two 18th century figures and revealing a pierced interior with a coloured feathered bird, a beaded bezel, painted on the copper top with scenes of lovers in woodland settings, the wooden base sides decorated with garden views, 10.5cm (4 1/8in) long, with a key The prestigious Parisian maison of E. Flajoulot started to manufacture musical boxes for the first time around 1890 until the 1950s.
