Group of Four Mettlach "Book" Steins, late 19th c., #2001, consisting of two "Law" examples, one with an owl thumb lever, the other with a shield lever; an "Accounting and Business" example, with a Mercury thumb lever; and a "Theology" example with an owl thumb lever, three with a painted stoneware lid, one a solid pewter lid, H.- 6 7/8 in., W.- 6 1/8 in., D.- 4 1/8 in. (4 Pcs.)

Condition

Condition consistent with age. A ½ inch factory firing line in the lid of the "Accounting and Business" example. Brown residue on the underside of one "Law" example. Minor inconsistencies throughout the glaze. Seams visible intermittently along sides. White discoloration in the crevices of the Mercury handle. An intriguing set. ALL PROPERTY IS SOLD "AS IS."
