Description
Nice AMERINDIAN DOLL-Child's TOY- 19th Century.
Very few amerindian children's toys made it to our days. They were usually abused the point to be thrown away at the end of their life, hence their rarity.
The body of this doll is made of stuffed cotton canvas.
The head is covered with braided real hair and the mouth and eyes are made of glass beads. Two long earrings made of skin, beads and dentalia shells adorn the ears and it wears a brass beads necklace around the neck. It is dressed in a dress of red wool "STROUD" trade cloth with white selvage the neckline of which is beaded.
Around its waist there is a skin belt decorated with cabochons representing "conchos" retaining a beaded awl case and a knife sheath.
Legs are covered with leggings of green woollen garment and feet are covered with moccasins.
