An internationally renowned wildlife artist, Van Howd was asked by his good friend, President Ronald Reagan, to be the White House artist in 1981. His most recent commissions include a 7.5 foot tall sculpture of Governor Reagan for the California State Capitol and an elephant, measuring 13 feet at the shoulder, for the government of Tanzania.
