Description
J. & E. Stevens Company Cromwell, Ct. - Circa 1880’s This racially charged bank references the fear of Chinese immigrants to the United States known as “Yellow Peril”. Here we find a recumbent card playing Chinaman who invites you to play a hand of poker with him. Coins placed in his jacket pocket are quickly lost when the bank lever is pressed because he has tricked you. He has pulled a winning hand with four aces from up his sleeve. The lesson imparted to a child of the period is that you simply cannot trust a sneaky Chinaman because they will always deceive you. Material: Cast Iron
