West Africa, Cameroon / Nigeria, Cross River Area, ca. 19th to early 20th century CE. This is an abstract wood carved fetish figure decorated with fur and hide appliques and nail studs. These figures are symbolic stand-ins for ill individuals in this rainforest delta area, and are used to pray for healing. Size: 15.5" H (39.4 cm)
