Description
Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Jalisco ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A pair of terracotta objects from the West Mexican shaft tomb cultures. One is a shallow bowl, redware, with a pale, almost white pigment over it. The incensario, also made of redware, has four rounded legs and a tall looped handle ringed by an enclosure. Size of bowl: 8.25" W x 2.5" H (21 cm x 6.4 cm); size of incensario: 4.4" L x 4.4" W x 5" H (11.2 cm x 11.2 cm x 12.7 cm)
Provenance: Ex-Adeon Gallery, Chicago, IL, acquired prior to 1970.

Condition
Two legs of the incensario have been reattached. Bowl has amazing rootmarks, especially on interior, and a deposit on the base.
