Description
Pre-Columbian, Nicaragua or El Salvador, Chorotega, ca. 300 BCE to 100 CE. A redware spouted vessel depicting a hybrid figure, perhaps a transforming shaman, with a human visage comprised of coffee-bean shaped eyes, a protruding curved nose with delineated nostrils, slightly parted lips, partially pierced ears, and a pointy chin, and dons a jaguar headdress and pointed (perhaps bone) ornaments through his cheeks. The figure also presents animorphic features, its bulbous quadriped body with a tiny tail on its backside. Rare! Size: 7" W x 12.75" H (17.8 cm x 32.4 cm)
