FOUGASSE: (1887 - 1965) Pseudonym of Cyril Kenneth Bird. British Cartoonist. A vintage, signed and inscribed colour 9 x 14 road safety print. As issued in support of the Ministry of War transport's road safety campaign by The Tilling Group of Companies, c.1942. The cartoon drawn images depicting adults and children at play in a road. The caption reading 'We don't play games in the road: So why do we let our children?'. Signed ('Fougasse') in brown fountain pen ink to the foot and inscribed 'To Arthur Dennis. A souvenir of a very pleasant partnership. Kenneth Bird', to a clear area at the head. EX
