Herschede grandfather clock. Panama Pacific Exposition model, #676 on movement = 1914. 3 weight, 9 tube grandfather hall clock with Westminster & Whittington Chimes. Herschede's tubular bells are famous for bell sounding quality. The case is ornately carved mahogany w/carved putti (one missing arm) and surmounted by a foliate bonnet top. Stylized pillar sides and a center glass overlaid door. This design won the grand prize for chiming hall clocks at the Panama Pacific Exposition, 1915. This particular clock was made before the exposition (1914) and most likely was on display during the event. Moon phase and dial in excellent condition, appx 98"t, running. Cincinnati newspaper from weight interior dated 1913.
