Armando Amaya (Mexican, 1935) patined bronze sculpture signed and dated, 1988.
A native of Mexico City, Amaya attended the Escuela Nacional de Pintura, Escultura y Grabado - later known as La Esmerelda - where he studied under Francisco Zuniga (1912-1998); he was named a professor of the school in 1969. Amaya's sculptures frequently deal with the female form and his artistic approach incorporates his strong Academic training with an emphasis on the natural dignity and grace of his subjects.
