Pepys') addressed to Edward Gregory (later Sir Edward), Clerk of the cheque at Chatham, authorising the appointment of Samuel Pett to the position of Clerk of the Survey at Chatham in the place of the late (James) Norman, countersigned by Sir John Mennes, controller of the navy, and Colonel Thomas Middleton, surveyor of the Navy, one page, folding makrs, folio , Navy Office, 29 November 1668, mounted and framed together with a portrait of Pepys, to a total size of 45.5 x 56cm .
