Autograph letter signed ('C.L. Dodgson') to 13-year-old Dolly Draper reading "Here is the portrait of the man I told you. He is no relation of mine at least if he is a relation, I don't know what sort of relation you would call him By the way, what is your birthday? You have told me your age and I suppose you were born in 1864, but I don't think you ever told me the day", four pages, mailing folds, black-bordered edges, 8vo, Ch[rist] Ch[urch], 5 February 1877. Accompanied by a second autograph letter to the same Dolly Draper, mentioning his two best-loved books, reading in part 'I think the only way to prevent you all forgetting me again is to send each a copy of some one of my 3 books I'll tell you what I was thinking of sending ', letter's closing signature ('Mr Dodgson') having been clipped off and replaced with a facsimile , three pages with aforementionned removed signature, mailing folds, 8vo, Ch[rist] Ch[urch], 12 April, 1877.
