Rare NYC civil war related document of a payment for $21.00 to The New York Journal, for advertising a call for the draft of union soldiers, war date April 8, 1865. Signed by the last civil war mayor of NYC C. Godfrey Gunther. As is known by the date, this was the very last call for troops to fight in the civil war. This was also the first call for troops printed in a NYC paper since the tragic draft riots. 2. Document sent from Admiral Perniance (American naval officer, commodore) dated Feb. 19, 1868. Letter is to Rear Admiral Goldsborough, congratulating him on his promotion. 3. Civil war letter mentioning Captains funeral etc. 4. Post war Yankee document; 1869 invoice of J. S.
