Early 19th C. Colonial Embroidered Child's Alphabet Sampler Signed & Dated September 12, 1819 Professionally Matted & Framed in Wooden Frame - This piece is a beautiful image of early America and the learning of reading, writing and arithmitic. The piece was made by Mary Jane Weir at the age of 8 years old, and is signed as such. The piece is also dated September 12, 1819. The piece is in near mint condition, which is quite rare. The sampler shows images of the alphabet along with numbers, and has a lovely floral border. The sampler has been professionally matted and framed in a beautiful wooden frame. The piece (including the frame) measures 22" x 23".
