Cartier New York Art Deco Solid 14K Yellow Gold Round Box W/Mine-Cut Diamonds, Rubies & Enamel W/Porthole & Pinstripe Details - THIS IS THE ONLY ONE KNOWN IN EXISTENCE. This extremely rare art deco piece was made by "Cartier New York." The piece has a lovely, yet subtle pinstripe detail, accented with punched "portholes". The piece is then delicately finished with a handpainted royal blue guilloche enamel scene on the top of the piece. The scene is accented with a lovely reeded design around the perimeter, and has a vibrant white enamel outer edge. The still life scene depicts a stylized suspended flower basket, and is etched into the enamel (not painted on) of the gold piece. The diamonds are a lovely antique, rose-cut and are set in platinum, along side the ruby cabochons. The plaque in the center has a lovely miligrain detail that also extends out to the platinum, and surrounds the diamonds. The piece also has stunning cabochon rubies that finish the piece nicely. The box also has a ruby cabochon push button release, and is in excellent condition. Measures: 1" x 3/4" x 3/4", and (Weighs: 51 Grams). This piece is signed "Cartier NY". You will never see another piece like this, as this is the only specimen of this kind from this period available in today's market.
