Feb. 15th 1804 William Ellery of Newport Rhode Island letter. Signer of Declaration of Independence and Rhode Island representative. This letter annotated College office Port of Newport may have been part of Ellery's role in writing a Charter for the college that became Brown University. "Ellery was among the fifty-six signers of the Declaration of Independence in 1776. In terms of square inches, the size of Ellery's signature on the Declaration of Independence was second to only John Hancock's famous signature. Ellery was also a signer of the Articles of Confederation". Measures 6 1/2 by 8 1/2. Good overall condition.
