AN AMERICAN BAROQUE STYLE FIGURAL CARVED OAK CONSOLE TABLE, PROBABLY GRAND RAPIDS, MICHIGAN, CIRCA 1885-1895, fitted with three drawers, the outer two with carved fruit suspended on bowed ribbons and the center with addorsed acanthus scrolls centering a lion mask, supported by two carved figures of Roman soldiers in contrapposto stance attired in a leather skirt and helmet, left hand resting atop a shield with Gorgon head carving while the upraised right hand holds a sack, the back divided into three panels, the center with carved leaf border and plain panel back, matching carved leaf border, the whole raised on hairy paw feet centering a Gorgon mask, stamped to the back "7368." Height: 42' Width: 54" Depth: 24" NOTE: This part of a large set of dining furniture comprised of an extending circular table, sideboard, and vitrine cabinet.

In overall good refinished condition with minor surface scratching commensurate with age and use; back edge of top with filled plugs, separation of panels along joints, minor losses to wood along upper edge of base, center back panel either replaced or has had carved decoration removed.
