Description
A 1940's silver engine-turned cigarette case with canted sides and push button mechanism, opening to reveal a silver-gilt interior with personal inscription, hallmarked E J Trevitt & Sons Ltd., Birmingham 1941, length measures 5 1/2 inches (14.2 cm). Together with a silver engine-turned compact case opening to reveal a silver-gilt interior, hallmarked W H Manton Ltd., Birmingham 1934 and a base metal snuff box depicting a hunting scene to the hinged lid. Gross weighable silver 10.37 ozt (322.5 grams). (3). 'To Eric Milner Esq with Sincere Respect From The Girls & Men of Enots Fire Service Christmas 1942'.
Condition
In good overall condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. The interior of the cigarette case is engraved with 'To Eric Milner Esq with Sincere Respect From The Girls & Men of Enots Fire Service Christmas 1942', case shuts fully flush with slight gaps between the silver at the short ends and some minor bumps to the top. The compact case has a minor scratch near the push button, shuts fully flush, remnants of polish visible, the interior accessories are not present. Hallmarks clear and legible. The base metal snuff box is stamped Fribourg & Treyer London to the base, alongside Made In England and L1457.
