125, [1] pp. Frontispiece portrait from engraving. (Large 8vo), original vellum-backed boards, spine and front cover lettered in gilt. From an edition of 35 large-paper copies, printed at the Kelmscott Press, NY. The total edition was 385. First Edition in Book Form.
An out-of-series copy, designated as an "Editor's Presentation Copy", inscribed on front flyleaf: "To C.B. Voorhis, Esq. from his Erstwhile Booklegger, Edward Eberstadt." Voorhis's bookplate on front pastedown. First published in The Family Visitor of Cleveland and Hudson Ohio in 1850 and 1851, noted in Wagner-Camp as "one of the most readable of all the overland accounts of the gold-rush days."
