Description
Octagonal barrel with steel rib mounted below decorated with rocker panel engraving on each side of rear sight. Flat percussion lockplate with stamp engraving and stamped "WHITEMORE WOLFE / DUFF & CO / PITTSBURGH PA" in center of lockplate. Brass furniture including engraved wearplate, engraved trigger guard bow with double set triggers, engraved four piece pierced patchbox and large star and oval inlays on left side of butt. Figured maple half stock which was cut down in the period and the original nose cap was used. Good condition; barrel retains a brown patina with scattered areas of pitting, light surface rust and heaving pitting around breech. Lock retains a dark brown patina with some pitting around bolster. Hammer is cocked and needs adjustment. Face of hammer pitted. Brass furniture unpolished. Stock is good with some chipping around pins and behind lock tang.
