Description
This trapdoor rifle remains in excellent all original condition. Barrel is a spotted blue-brown patina with some salt and pepper freckling. An 1884 rifle rear sight and sling swivels. Two barrel bands are both stamped "U". Trigger guard is brown patina with a serrated knurled trigger. Perfect wood to metal fit at lock. Stamped "U.S. Springfield" with eagle. Left side of barrel has the "V.P." eagle head proof. Block is stamped "U.S. Model 1884". Original walnut stocks are excellent with no visible cartouche. Buttplate is stamped "U.S.". No visible proof "P". Fine action and strong visible rifling with black powder abrasions. Includes a rare original single brass frog leather sling with single keeper.
