Manufactured 1866 to 1871. This rifle features the two barrel bands stamped with "U", metal forend tip, full length walnut forend, cleaning rod, lanyard ring on rear band, military style rear sight and walnut buttstock with sling swivel. There is a professionally stamped "Unit No. 3" on right side. Has a perfect "W.C." cartouche on left wrist. Peabody patent "July 22, 1862" on left side of frame. Barrel is a smooth mix of blue and brown patina with some scattered age spotting, very homogeneous. Frame has traces of case colors. Legends are sharp. Wood is excellent. Strong rifle bore with some minor black powder abrasion. Excellent all original example.
