Description
One of the rarest of all Remington pistols with only 735 ever manufactured. This is chambered for the largest available caliber, the S&W .44 Russian. Features single shot, built on the rolling block action, half octagon barrel, profusely checkered forend and grip, and blued finish. This example still has the "P" and "S" inspector mark on the left side. Left side of frame has the 1866 patent date. Barrel is stamped "Remington Arms". Barrel flat is stamped with the famed Western Gun dealer from Denver, Colorado, J.P. Lower. Features adjustable target rear sight, high Patridge front sight set in dove tail and a flat nickel plated grip cap. Caliber stamped on bottom of barrel. Checkered stocks are excellent. Trigger guard and forearm screw virtually retain all of its factory blue finish. Frame and barrel retain 95% of blue, although thinning a bit. Near mint bore and perfect action. Comes in contemporary wood case with oil bottle. This is the first model we have seen and remains in excellent condition and probably one of the most desirable calibers. Extremely rare and desirable Remington pistol in fine condition, nearly impossible to duplicate. Serial Number-2518; Manufacturer-Remington; Model-1901; Caliber-.44 S&W Russian; Barrel Length-10"; FFL Status-Curio & Relic;
