Description
Round smoothbore barrel of browned steel, patent hooken breech marked with English view and proof marks. Flintlock mechanism with roller frizzen and thumb safety, center of lockplate marked "I. JONES". Brass furniture. Small oval escutcheon inscribed "JCP" in script, buttplate tang engraved with arms motifs and triggerguard inlaid with two engraved rectangles. Walnut stock with checkered wrist and brass take-down caps on two-piece stock. Very good condition, barrel shows scattered marks from use and probably rebrowned when used in 1976 muzzleloading competition. The second half of the two-piece forestock was replicated and replaced by Robert Fisch, and shot at the 1976 muzzle loading world championship in Versailles, France. Lock retains a grey patina and has some light pitting, cock has been repaired at neck. Stock refinished and has scattered light marks from use. Brass unpolished.
