Description
Cut down Springfield Model 1816 Type III musket, barrel, buttstock, and forend have been shortened during the period. Lock marked "SPRING/FIELD/1837" at tail vertically and stamped in center with an eagle over "US." Converted to percussion. All components have a heavy dark brown patina, dry surfaces, and cracked, dry wood, showing heavy use, age, and wear. This is a true and original blanket gun. Navajo blanket dates from about 1910, mostly brown and tan tones. Blanket with some wear, fading, and holes from hammer spur.
